Enoch Adeboye, the general overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), has celebrated his wife Foluke Adeboye on her 78th birthday, describing her as his “greatest companion”.
In a tribute titled ‘To My Lover, Foluke’ and shared on X, the 84-year-old cleric reflected on their 58 years together, stating that his wife has been a continuous source of strength throughout his family life and spiritual leadership.
“Great has been the journey of walking side by side with you,” he wrote.
“Today, on your 78th birthday, is a gift to me, to have the world join me in doing what I have spent 58 years doing: celebrating you.
With you, the weight of the assignment has always been a lighter cross to carry. Our two have agreed, and so our walking together has been of divine stride, a race continuously illuminated, step after step, decade after decade. My path shines brighter because I walk it with you.”
The cleric noted that while many in the global congregation know Foluke as “Mummy G.O.,” he holds the private privilege of knowing her as his wife, friend, and confidante.
He credited her quiet sacrifices, compassion, and unwavering faith for making divine assignments “a lighter cross to carry” and acknowledged her profound impact on their children, the church, and countless families.
“With you, the weight of the assignment has always been a lighter cross to carry. Many people know you as Mummy G.O; I have the privilege of knowing you simply as my wife, my friend,” he added.
“Our children have been blessed because of your love. The family of God has been blessed because of your devotion.”
“Seventy-eight years of your life, fifty-eight years of them beside me, and still I find new reasons to thank God for you.
You have been wife, counsel, and companion in every sense the word was ever meant to hold. As you celebrate today, my prayer is simple.
“May the God whom you have served so faithfully continue to uphold you. May He surround you with His peace, fill your days with fresh joy, strengthen your body, renew your strength, and continue to satisfy you with His goodness.
“May the years ahead be even more fruitful than those behind, and may you continue to see the mighty hand of God at work in your life. Thank you for walking hand in hand with me. Happy 78th birthday, my love.”
The couple got married in 1967. The union is blessed with four children.
Adeboye has on numerous occasions reaffirmed his love for Foluke. In June 2020, he had vowed to “kill anyone who messes with his wife.”
“You can do whatever you like to me, you can criticize me, you can insult me, you can trample on me, I will only pray for you,” he had said.
“But if you mess with my wife, I will kill you. I will kill you so thoroughly you will not even be able to rise on the resurrection morning.”
In 2023, the cleric also stated that he prays for him and Foluke “to be taken home together when the time comes”.
