David Adeleke, Nigerian music star popularly known as Davido, has questioned the delay in uploading results from the ongoing governorship election in Osun State to the Independent National Electoral Commission’s (INEC) Result Viewing Portal (IReV).
In a series of posts on his X account, the superstar asked INEC to ensure transparency and provide timely updates on the results.
“INEC, it is now 2:33 p.m., yet no result has been uploaded to the IReV portal. What is the delay? Nigerians deserve transparency and timely updates,” he wrote.
The singer also urged voters to remain at their polling units until their results were uploaded to IReV and ensure that the figures were accurately entered on the electronic EC8A result form.
“Make sure your polling unit results are uploaded on IReV in your presence and make sure the figures are entered on eEC8A. We will follow our votes bumper to bumper!” he said.
Davido also called on voters to photograph their polling unit result sheets and forward them to a WhatsApp number.
“Don’t leave your polling unit until it is being uploaded on the IReV, protect your vote now,” he added.
Earlier, Davido urged election officials to use the front camera on the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) when the device’s other camera is not working.
“If your BVAS camera is not working, please tell the officials to use front camera. It is very active and fast!,” he stated.
The singer’s comment came amid reports of technical challenges involving BVAS during the election.
BVAS is used by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for voter accreditation through fingerprint and facial authentication, as well as for other election-related functions.
Davido has in recent days spoken on issues relating to the Osun governorship election, including calling for attention by both local and international bodies to show close attention to the conduct of the exercise.
