The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has reportedly arrested the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate in Taraba State, Senator Emmanuel Bwacha, in Abuja over an ongoing investigation into the execution of constituency projects during his tenure in the Senate.
Sources familiar with the matter disclosed that the former lawmaker was taken into custody after allegedly failing to honour an invitation previously extended to him by the anti-graft agency.
According to the sources, the investigation focuses on the management and execution of constituency projects carried out while Bwacha represented his senatorial district. The EFCC is expected to question the former senator as part of its ongoing probe.
However, the commission has not disclosed the specific allegations or the amount of money involved in the investigation.
As of the time of filing this report, neither the EFCC nor Senator Bwacha had issued an official statement regarding the reported arrest. It also remains unclear whether he will be formally charged, pending the outcome of the investigation.
The development is expected to generate significant political interest in Taraba State as the investigation unfolds.
