Nigerian filling stations and depot owners have increased their retail petrol pump prices and ex-depot prices for the second time in less than a week.

A market survey by newsmen on Monday night showed that Empire Filling Station, Ranoil Filling Station, and other outlets have further increased fuel prices to between N1,275 and N1,280 per litre in Abuja, up from N1,220 per litre.

This means that petroleum products marketers have raised fuel prices by between N55 and N60 per litre.

Similarly, depot owners, including MAO, Gulf Treasure, T.Time, and NorthWest, have increased their ex-depot prices to between N1,249 and N1,270 per litre, up from as low as N1,187 per litre.

Meanwhile, Dangote Refinery has insisted that its petrol gantry price remains at $0.779 per litre after resuming the sale of refined petroleum products in dollars.

The latest surge in fuel prices has been linked to uncertainty in the country’s downstream oil sector.

The development comes as crude oil prices rose to $82 and $88 per barrel for West Texas Intermediate and Brent crude, respectively, on Monday night amid heightened tensions in the Middle East.
