Troops of the Joint Task Force, Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS), on Sunday, rescued an abducted victim and arrested a suspected kidnapper in separate intelligence-led operations in Benue and Nasarawa states. The Edo State Healthcare Regulation and Monitoring Agency (EDOHERMA) has shut down Jess Royal Hospital in Benin City over alleged operation without registration with the appropriate regulatory authorities. The Niger State Police Command has arrested four suspects over the alleged murder of the Village Head of Zhilu, Fuka District, Munya Local Government Area, Bawa Barde, 53. The suspects, identified as Zegi Dogari, 48; Danjuma Galadima, 50; Bashir Umar, 32; and John Doma, 35, were arrested between August 25 and 28 following investigations into the killing. The Plateau State Government has ordered the temporary closure of all public and private primary and secondary schools as part of measures to contain suspected cases of diphtheria in the state. Five people have been confirmed dead, while 28 others sustained injuries in a multi-vehicle crash at the Ugwu Onyeama axis of the Enugu-Onitsha Expressway in Enugu.
