The senate has rejected a motion seeking an investigation into the inclusion of the presidential foreign intervention promotion council (PFIPC) in the 2026 Appropriation Act. Lawmakers, however, resolved to withhold further action until the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) concludes the probe ordered by President Bola Tinubu. The decision followed a point of order raised by Kawu Sumaila, senator representing Kano south, who urged the upper chamber to investigate how the agency, which the presidency has described as non-existent, secured a budgetary allocation of N1.3 billion. Speaking at Wednesday’s plenary, Sumaila said the controversy directly affects…

The red chamber during plenary on Tuesday insisted that individuals found culpable in terrorism and related criminal offences should face the full weight of the law through immediate prosecution. The resolution formed part of additional prayers adopted by the upper legislative chamber during the consideration of a motion on the escalating attacks, abductions and killings of serving and retired military personnel across the country. The motion was sponsored by the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Nigerian Army, Abdulaziz Musa Yar’Adua. The upper chamber…

The ICPC said the arranged medical visit was used for activities outside the scope contemplated by the court and the commission.

The Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria has said filling stations in Nigeria have reduced fuel prices in the last three weeks by N125 per litre following the petrol rate cut in the gantry price of the Dangote Refinery. Recall that the federal government had invited downstream petroleum sector stakeholders, including Dangote Refinery, depot owners and marketers, for talks on cost-reflective fuel pricing amid a drop in crude oil prices. The federal government had insisted on a further cut in petrol price and cost-reflective pricing. Speaking after the meeting, like Dangote Refinery depot owners, Maigandi said its members have been…
