The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has arrested and detained 24 personnel in connection with the deaths of 37 suspected illegal miners in Niger State, parading the suspended Niger State Commandant, Commandant Subaru Siyaka Aniviye, and 23 other officers at the Corps Headquarters in Abuja. Operatives of the Edo State Police Command have arrested a self-acclaimed prophet and overseer of Divine Grace Church, Nicholas Nusa, 50, over the alleged abduction of five female children in the state. Nusa, who operates the church along Imoga Road, Ibillo, in Akoko-Edo Local Government Area, was also accused of allegedly impregnating one of the girls, aged 15. Iran’s judiciary announced on Saturday the execution of a man accused of providing information about Iranian missile sites to Israeli intelligence. “The death penalty was carried out against Hossein Pedaran, who had provided the Mossad with information on missile sites in Isfahan province” in central Iran, judicial authorities said, without saying when he was arrested or put on trial. The Federal Government has suspended 20 officers of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps NSCDC and constituted a 10-member independent committee to investigate the reported deaths of 37 people held by the Niger State Command of the Corps on suspicion of illegal mining.
