Minister of Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has told the All Progressives Congress (APC) Governors to work hard in their states and deliver President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in next year’s election. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has reopened its investigation into allegations against former Vice President Atiku Abubakar following a petition by former House of Representatives member, Hon. Ehiozuwa Johnson Agbonayinma, seeking his prosecution over alleged financial crimes. The petition seeks to revive a case dating back to 2006, asking the anti-graft agency to revisit its investigation under former chairman, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, and consider a subsequent report by a United States Senate subcommittee. Inspector-General of Police Olatunji Disu has assured Nigerians that police officers will demonstrate professionalism before, during and after the 2027 general elections. He said the police would learn from previous elections and use the lessons to improve their performance during the forthcoming polls. The Senate has passed for second reading a bill seeking to establish a national framework for suicide prevention, decriminalise attempted suicide and provide rehabilitation for survivors, despite opposition from Senate President Godswill Akpabio, who insisted that attempted suicide should still attract a jail term. The bill, sponsored by Senator Asuquo Ekpenyong (Cross River South), seeks to address what he described as a contradiction in Nigeria’s laws. Shell Petroleum B.V. has announced the sale of its full interest in Shell Nigeria Gas Group to Vaaris Energy Limited, a Nigerian company. In a statement on Tuesday, the company said the deal covers its domestic gas distribution business in Nigeria. “Shell Nigeria Gas has served industrial and commercial customers in Nigeria for more than 25 years, supported by the commitment and expertise of its people. “We believe this agreement provides a much stronger platform for the business’ next chapter under new ownership. Shell continues to focus on strategic Deepwater and Integrated Gas positions in Nigeria,” the company said.
