The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Monday arraigned former Managing Director of Warri Refining and Petrochemical Company Limited (WRPC), Jimoh Yisawu, at the Federal High Court in Abuja over alleged money laundering. The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has arrested four police officers accused of extorting N53,000 from the Chairman of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), Dr. Musa Aliyu (SAN). The FCT Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Sanusi, disclosed that the officers allegedly deserted their assigned duty posts and mounted an unauthorized checkpoint near Banex Plaza in Wuse, Abuja, where they intercepted the ICPC chairman. Mr Augustine Ojo, a father of seven, has reportedly died after being swept away by floodwaters at Iguovbiobo community in Uhunmwode Local Government Area of Edo State. The 30-year-old man was reported to have fallen into a deep gully when returning home on his motorcycle. It was gathered that the deceased was attempting to cross a makeshift wooden bridge spanning the gully when he lost his life. Some of the victims abducted along the Otukpo–Ogobia Road in Benue State have regained their freedom after gunmen released the driver, the corpse of an elderly woman and one of her three children.
